
Clancy Ellis
Praised for his “clear, discreet, and precise” conducting (Peter Perret, Cultural Voice of North Carolina), Clancy Ellis is an active young conductor based in New York City. A recipient of the Julius Rudel Conducting Fellowship, Ellis presently serves as a cover conductor for the Buffalo Philharmonic under JoAnn Falletta. Previously, Ellis has appeared as a guest conductor for the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra and has conducted the Lviv National Philharmonic. He has participated in conducting masterclasses throughout the United States and Europe and was a 2022 Conducting Fellow at the Eastern Music Festival. Ellis holds a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, and currently studies Orchestral Conducting at the Mannes School of Music. He is assistant conductor of the Mannes Orchestra and Mannes Opera and directs the Mannes American Composers Ensemble (MACE). His primary teachers include David Hayes and Mark Shapiro.
